Can i keep a tampon in even if its leaking?

I was just wondering because sometimes i go out to places and if my tampon starts leaking ill keep it in (i usually wear a pad) just because it keeps it from gushing out. its not after the full 8 hours. i know to take it out then. Sooo, yeahhh. please and thanks(:
